We all like a good laugh, don’t we? If not, you’re probably dead inside, but if so, you could do far worse than heading down to the monthly Comedy Kaiju at Wharf Chambers in Leeds.
So what is Kaiju? Technically, it’s a Japanese word for a big monster – you’ll have heard them mentioned plenty of times if you went to see Pacific Rim. However, rather than wreaking havoc in downtown Leeds, the Comedy Kaiju gives a handful of comedians the chance to try out new stuff and generally have fun. Of course, it wouldn’t be much of a gig if there weren’t any punters and for the princely sum of just £2, you can be amongst that number.
Thursday just gone was the third Kaiju and featured four acts plus an MC who essentially brings it up to five. Sure, there’s a few jokes that miss the mark, but most of the time you’re rolling in the aisles (metaphorically, at least) and for 40p per act, you can’t really complain, can you?
If you fancy getting a piece of the action, the next Kaiju is taking place on Thursday 4th December and will bring you the unique comedy stylings of Eddie French, Fran Garrity, Jon Newell, Rich Ross and your host for the evening, Mr Dave Rivers.
